If you drive North Bridge Street in Chillicothe, you already know the work zone. It is going to stay that way a while longer.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, crews are rebuilding the northbound lanes of State Route 159 and North Bridge Street through the U.S. 35 interchange. Traffic is running on new concrete that will later serve southbound traffic.

Two northbound lanes stay open.

The ramp from Bridge Street to U.S. 35 east is closed until Thanksgiving. Drivers south of U.S. 35 can use Bridge Street south to East Main Street, then head east on Main Street to the highway. Drivers north of U.S. 35 should continue to the U.S. 23 interchange and take U.S. 23 south to U.S. 35 east.

There is some good news in the zone. A second lane has opened on the exit ramp from U.S. 35 east to Bridge Street, and the ramp from High Street and State Route 104 to U.S. 35 east has reopened.

Northbound drivers who want U.S. 35 west should use the left lane and a temporary ramp, and they must yield as they merge.

Shoppers heading to Shawnee Square, Nourse, Walmart or Kohl’s should turn left at Stewart Drive.

ODOT says all lanes will reopen in their final configuration by Thanksgiving, weather permitting, with finish work coming in spring 2027.

Please slow down in work zones and watch for crews.
