A Columbus man is facing a felony charge following an alleged incident involving a law enforcement officer while in custody.
According to records filed in Franklin County Municipal Court, Asad S. Mohamed-Mubarak, 43, has been charged with harassment by inmate, a fifth-degree felony.
Court records state the charge involves an allegation that the defendant caused or attempted to cause a law enforcement officer to come into contact with bodily substances. The alleged offense is listed as occurring on March 19, 2026.
A warrant was issued the same day, and Mohamed-Mubarak was taken into custody on April 13, 2026. He is currently being held at the James A. Karnes Correctional Center.
Court records show the case was reopened following his arrest, and he is currently being held on a no bond status.
Mohamed-Mubarak appeared for arraignment on April 14, 2026, with the hearing continued to April 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 4D.
