A Chillicothe woman with multiple active warrants was taken into custody Thursday evening after officers located her hiding inside an East Water Street residence, according to reports obtained by Hopewell Heritage Headlines.
KiAnne Rashell Tyler, 27, was arrested July 16 after officers with the Chillicothe Police Department and probation officers conducted a search of a residence on East Water Street.
According to the report, Officer Joshua Wright initially observed two women near an alley behind East 2nd Street. One woman rode away on a bicycle while the second woman, later identified as Tyler, walked away and attempted to avoid identification. Wright suspected the woman was an individual known to have an active warrant and requested additional officers to assist.
Officer Nate Crabtree later received information from a resident that the woman had run into a home on East Water Street. Officers made contact with the homeowner, who initially gave consent to search before becoming uncooperative. Because the homeowner was on active probation, probation officers responded and assisted with a compliance check of the residence.
During the search, Tyler was found hiding under a blanket in an upstairs bedroom.
Police say Tyler suffered a laceration to her right arm after running into the rear door of the residence, causing glass to shatter. She was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment before being taken to the Ross County Jail.
Upon arrival at the jail, Tyler was served with three active warrants stemming from charges of theft, obstructing official business, and possession of drugs.
Jail records show Tyler was booked into the Ross County Jail at approximately 8:18 p.m. July 16. She is being held on two $5,000 bonds and one no-bond warrant pending court proceedings. According to the report, she was scheduled to appear in court on July 17.
As with all criminal cases, the charges and allegations are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
