A Chillicothe woman was booked into the Ross County Jail on Tuesday after deputies served an indictment warrant in a Ross County Common Pleas Court case involving multiple felony charges.
According to jail records, Brittany Lynn Hughes, 31, of Chillicothe, was booked into the Ross County Jail at approximately 12:28 p.m. on July 28, 2026. The booking reflects warrant charges of Tampering with Records, a third-degree felony, and Theft.
Court records show Hughes was indicted on June 26, 2026, on a total of 16 felony counts. The original indictment included one count of Illegal Use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits, two counts of Grand Theft, and 13 counts of Tampering with Records.
The charges listed in the case now include:
- One count of Trafficking in or Illegal Use of Food Stamps (F3);
- Two counts of Theft (F4); and
- Thirteen counts of Tampering with Records (F3).
Following the indictment, the Ross County Common Pleas Court issued a warrant for Hughes’ arrest. Court records indicate the warrant was returned on July 28 after being served by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Ryker Nott is listed as the arresting officer in the jail booking.
The case remains pending before Judge Michael M. Ater in Ross County Common Pleas Court.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Hughes is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
