CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man accused of stealing a can of Lysol spray and Yoohoo chocolate milk from a Chillicothe gas station was arrested Monday evening after police discovered he had two active warrants from separate Ohio counties.
According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the Par Mar Store (AMOCO) at 61 North Bridge Street on October 12, 2026, following a reported theft.
Upon arrival, Officer Joseph Gay spoke with store employee Lindsey Miller, who reported witnessing Joseph Straughsbaugh allegedly conceal a can of Lysol spray and Yoohoo chocolate milk in his pockets before walking past all points of sale without paying.
Miller told police that Straughsbaugh had been seen walking eastbound along East 2nd Street. She also requested that he be barred from returning to the gas station.
Officer Gay located a man matching the suspect’s description near 429 East 2nd Street and identified him as Straughsbaugh.
According to the report, Straughsbaugh acknowledged taking the Yoohoo and Lysol when questioned by the officer.
Straughsbaugh was issued a summons for theft and advised of his October 26, 2026, court date in Chillicothe Municipal Court.
However, the encounter took another turn when dispatch notified the officer that Straughsbaugh had two active warrants from other Ohio counties.
The first warrant originated from Highland County and involved an original charge of menacing. The second warrant was issued through Montgomery County for breaking and entering.
After both warrants were confirmed, Straughsbaugh was transported to the Ross County Jail.
According to the police report, he was being held pending pickup by Highland County authorities the following morning.
The incident was documented under Chillicothe Police Department case number PD-P2604198.
