A Columbus man faces two second-degree felony charges of violence after his arraignment Thursday in Franklin County Municipal Court, one alleging a weapon was used and the other alleging strangulation that caused serious physical harm.

Michael Williams, 46, is charged in case 2026 CR A 018602 with felonious assault and with strangulation, according to court records. The sheriff’s booking record gives his full name as Michael Vernell Williams. The arraignment sheet, filed under Columbus jurisdiction, does not describe the incident or identify any other person.

Williams was arrested October 28, 2026, and booked at James A. Karnes (booking 20261028029), sheriff’s records show. Bond had not been set on either count as of the courtroom 4D arraignment.

Williams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. A Franklin County grand jury will decide whether the case is indicted into the Court of Common Pleas.
