CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — At least two protesters were removed from the Shoemaker Center on Wednesday night, shortly after President Donald Trump began his remarks at his campaign rally in Chillicothe.
Reporters inside the hall said the protesters started yelling right after Trump began his address. Secret Service agents and Ross County sheriff’s deputies moved in and escorted them out of the arena while the crowd looked on.
Trump continued his remarks after the removals. The rally at Ohio University Chillicothe is his third Ohio campaign stop of the midterm cycle, six days before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and he used the speech to back Sen. Jon Husted, Vivek Ramaswamy and Issue 3, the proposal to put the state’s photo ID requirement for voting in the Ohio Constitution.
Protesters were also outside the event. About a dozen demonstrators stood near the line to get in during the afternoon, some with a megaphone, trading words with Trump supporters as they waited.
There was no immediate word Wednesday night on whether anyone removed from the hall was arrested. We will update this story when the sheriff’s office or the Secret Service confirms more.
