KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Chillicothe’s Landon Zambarrano brought home gold after going undefeated in his division at The Fall Classic martial arts tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Zambarrano, representing Monster Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Chillicothe, competed in the men’s 16-and-over advanced no-gi grappling division at 154 pounds, finishing with a perfect 2-0 record to secure the gold medal.
Both victories came by submission against Amonie Dayquan of NXG Combat Sports, allowing Zambarrano to finish his weight-class competition without a loss.
Hopewell Heritage Headlines was able to speak to Zambarrano after his performance. Zambarrano admittedly wasn’t feeling well the day of the tournament but pushed thorough to compete. Zambarrano secured an early takedown passing his opponents “guard” and ultimately ended the match with an armbar submission.

In addition to his gold-medal performance, Zambarrano decided to challenge himself by entering the men’s no-gi absolute division, an open-weight category where competitors can face opponents regardless of weight class.

Zambarrano’s undefeated 2-0 performance in the advanced 154-pound division secured him a gold medal and another accomplishment in his grappling career.
His performance highlights the talent emerging from southern Ohio’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community, as local athletes continue to test their skills against competitors from outside the region.

Hopewell Heritage Headlines congratulates Landon Zambarrano on his gold-medal finish and for representing Chillicothe on the regional grappling stage!
