Franklin County

A Columbus man was arraigned Thursday in Franklin County Municipal Court on a felony strangulation charge, along with misdemeanor domestic violence and assault counts in a companion case.

Curtis Cavett is charged in case 2026 CR A 017704 with strangulation, a third-degree felony, according to court records. The sheet lists the charge at the grade involving a dating relationship. In the companion case, 2026 CR B 017711, he is charged with domestic violence and assault, both first-degree misdemeanors.

The arraignment sheets give no facts about the underlying incident, and no further details were available in the court record Thursday.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office records show Cavett was arrested on October 21, 2026, and booked into the Franklin County jail. Bond had not been set in the felony case as of his arraignment in courtroom 4D.

Cavett is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The felony case is typically presented to a Franklin County grand jury, which decides whether to issue an indictment and move it to the Court of Common Pleas.

We are reaching out for more information and will update this story as details become available.
