The Franklin County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 20 to authorize CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, known as LSS CHOICES, to receive the fees the county collects in 2027 to support shelters for victims of domestic violence.
County staff estimate the fees will bring in roughly $280,000 in 2027. The money comes from fees collected under state law, including on marriage licenses and divorce filings.
The vote, Resolution 0685-26, came as the board recognized October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
CHOICES is Franklin County’s only domestic violence shelter. It provides emergency shelter and advocacy services and serves hundreds of survivors each year. People who need shelter can call the Franklin County domestic violence hotline, 614-224-4663, at any hour.
