COLUMBUS, Ohio — A driver was arraigned Wednesday on a charge stemming from a July crash on Interstate 670 in which a young child was killed.
Daniel Raffe Ocando appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court on a first-degree misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter. The charge comes out of a July 15, 2026 crash on I-670 in Columbus. A 2-year-old passenger in another vehicle died in that crash, which Columbus media covered at the time.
The charge filed this week is the first criminal count announced in the case. Vehicular manslaughter alleges a death caused by a traffic offense rather than by reckless or intentional conduct. Ocando does not appear in the county jail’s current inmate records, and no booking photo was available.
The charge is an allegation. Every person charged is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
