Franklin County families who need a full Thanksgiving meal can apply now through Harvest of Hope, the meal drive run by the FOP Foundation at Dewey R. Stokes Capital City Lodge No. 9.
The lodge says it has 100 spots to fill. Selected households get a complete holiday meal. The application is a short questionnaire the lodge has been circulating since mid-September. Organizers want the list full, not half empty, and are asking people to pass the word.
People who can give instead of receive have four routes. Food can be sent from an Amazon registry or a Walmart wish list. Items can be dropped at the lodge office. Cash donations go through the foundation’s payment link, with “Thanksgiving” in the note.
This is a repeat program, not a one-off. Last November the Whitehall Walmart sent more than 60 turkeys, and lodge vice president Pete Casuccio picked them up in the lodge van. Capital City Lodge No. 9 is the Fraternal Order of Police local for Franklin County, with members across 29 agencies. Details are on the lodge site, fop9.org.
