CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man was arrested Tuesday evening after police say he sent threatening messages to the mother of his child, including alleged threats to damage her vehicle, assault her and shoot her.
According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, officers responded to East Main Street on September 30 regarding a threats complaint. The woman told police that Isaiah Lovejoy, the father of her child, had been sending her threatening messages after she picked up their son earlier that day.
The report states that some of the alleged messages included threats to “blow” up her car, physically assault her including “I’m going to kick you in your belly and kick that kid when it’s born.” The woman also told police that Lovejoy had threatened to shoot her.
Police said the woman showed the responding officer text messages from that day, and the officer forwarded copies of the messages for the investigation.
An officer later located Lovejoy on West Seventh Street and advised him of his rights. According to the report, Lovejoy acknowledged communicating with the woman and admitted sending messages that could be considered threatening. However, he reportedly told police that he “says stupid things” but does not mean them.
Lovejoy was taken into custody and transported to the Ross County Jail, where the report states he was booked on a charge of domestic menacing. Police noted that Lovejoy and the woman share a child.
The case was listed as cleared by arrest.
All allegations are accusations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
