ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Dayton woman was booked into the Ross County Jail Friday following a disposition hearing in a felony drug conveyance case that began earlier this year.
According to Ross County Common Pleas Court records, Riccasia S. Anderson was indicted in January on a third-degree felony charge of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2921.36.
Court records show a warrant was issued following the indictment and was served by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office on April 9.
On July 23, Anderson entered a guilty plea, and a judgment of guilty was filed with the court. Her disposition hearing was subsequently scheduled for September 11 at 10 a.m.
The docket shows the hearing was held Friday morning, with a criminal disposition sheet filed afterward. The entry notes that Anderson’s bond was released and lists discretionary post-release control of up to two years.
Ross County Jail records show Anderson was then booked into the jail at approximately 11:06 a.m. on September 11, shortly after the scheduled disposition hearing.
The jail’s current booking entry lists illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse into a detention facility as a fifth-degree felony. However, the Common Pleas Court docket identifies Anderson’s indicted charge—and the charge associated with the case in which she pleaded guilty—as a third-degree felony. The reason for the difference between the two public records was not immediately clear.
Anderson remained listed in custody as of September 12.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. In this case, court records reflect that Anderson entered a guilty plea and a judgment of guilty was filed.
