Bainbridge Youth Center Resident Held in Ross County Jail on Felonious Assault Charge

BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — An 18-year-old male housed at the Lighthouse Youth Center in Bainbridge is being held in the Ross County Jail after being charged with felonious assault.

According to records filed in Chillicothe Municipal Court, Liontaz Montray McKinney, 18, was charged with one count of Felonious Assault, a second-degree felony under Ohio law. The charge stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on June 27.

Jail records show McKinney was booked into the Ross County Jail later that evening and remains incarcerated. His bond has been set at $20,000 cash or surety.

Court records indicate a probable cause determination was made by the court, and a no-contact order was issued prohibiting McKinney from contacting or harming the alleged victim, or causing others to do so.

Records reviewed by Hopewell Heritage Headlines list McKinney’s address as the Lighthouse Youth Center in Bainbridge. The facility operates as a secure juvenile corrections and rehabilitation center under the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 8 at 1:00 p.m. in Chillicothe Municipal Court.

At this time, court records do not provide additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the charge. Hopewell Heritage Headlines has submitted a public records request seeking further information about the alleged incident.

As with all criminal proceedings, the charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
