A Ross County man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after a jury found him guilty of two counts of rape following a trial in Ross County Common Pleas Court.
According to court records, Geovanii C. Casillas, 51, was convicted by a jury on two first-degree felony counts of rape under Ohio Revised Code 2907.02. The guilty verdicts were returned in December 2025 following a jury trial before Judge Scott Nusbaum.
Court documents show the jury found Casillas guilty on both counts. Following the verdicts, the court ordered a victim impact statement and a pre-sentence investigation before sentencing was ultimately held in February 2026.
On February 27, 2026, the court filed a criminal disposition sheet noting that Casillas was classified as a Tier III sex offender and that the two counts would be served consecutively. A final sentencing entry filed March 2, 2026, ordered Casillas to serve a minimum of eight years and a maximum of twelve years on the first rape conviction, along with an additional eight-year sentence on the second rape conviction.
The sentences were ordered to be served consecutively, resulting in an aggregate prison term of 16 to 20 years. Court records indicate Casillas received 157 days of jail-time credit.
Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records show Casillas was admitted into state prison custody on March 16, 2026, and is currently incarcerated at Belmont Correctional Institution. His projected release or parole eligibility date is listed as September 19, 2041.
As part of the sentence, Casillas was designated a Tier III Sex Offender/Child Victim Offender Registrant, the most serious classification under Ohio’s sex offender registration system, requiring lifetime registration and reporting requirements.
The case was prosecuted in Ross County Common Pleas Court under case number 25CR263.
