According to court records, 36-year-old Ashlee Brooke Lewis was taken into custody by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office on June 15 and booked into the Ross County Jail. Jail records indicate she is being held on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property.
Ross County Common Pleas Court records show Lewis was indicted on May 15 on one count of Receiving Stolen Property, a fourth-degree felony.
Court documents indicate a summons was initially issued following the indictment, but it was returned unserved on May 21. The docket states the Ross County Sheriff’s Office was unable to serve the summons because Lewis had reportedly moved and was listed as a missing person from Zanesville.
After the summons was returned unserved, prosecutors requested an arrest warrant be issued. Court records show the warrant was authorized on June 2 and later served by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office on June 15.
Lewis appeared in custody following her arrest and is scheduled for arraignment before Ross County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael M. Ater on June 16.
A conviction for Receiving Stolen Property as charged could carry potential prison time under Ohio law.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
