Norwood Skyline Chili Murder: Beloved Server Ally Hill, 27, Killed by Repeat Offender Ex on Probation with Active Warrant

On Tuesday, June 2, around 12:30 p.m., 27-year-old Alyssa “Ally” Nicole Hill was working her regular shift as a server at the Skyline Chili on Montgomery Road when she was brutally attacked and stabbed inside the restaurant during the lunch rush. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from her injuries.

Ally was a devoted single mother to two young children, her 4-year-old daughter Jayda and infant son Colson. Friends and coworkers describe her as hardworking, sweet, silly, independent, and someone who worked nearly every day to support her family, including helping care for her ailing father. She had been a longtime employee at that Skyline location and was loved by regular customers.

Police quickly identified and arrested 37-year-old Rick Wright near the scene. Court documents and prosecutors confirm Wright was Ally’s ex-boyfriend. They had not been together for some time. Wright has been charged with murder. He appeared in court Wednesday and is currently being held without bond pending a detention hearing.

What makes this even more troubling is Wright’s extensive criminal history and how he was back on the streets. He has prior convictions for assault, menacing, robbery (including a 2012 case where he held two people at gunpoint in an Anderson Township apartment and served prison time), drug trafficking, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Most recently, in 2025 he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on a police officer. Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Samantha Silverstein sentenced him to 60 days in jail and placed him on probation that included court-ordered mental health treatment. Wright violated his probation. He failed to report to his probation officer, failed to provide his address, and failed to attend treatment. A warrant was issued for his arrest on May 28. At the time he allegedly stabbed Ally on June 2, he was wanted on that warrant and was still on probation from the earlier assault case.

Hamilton County prosecutors described Wright as an extraordinary danger to the community with a demonstrative history of violence and pushed hard for him to remain in custody.

The Norwood Skyline Chili, owned by the Misleh family, has announced it will donate 20 percent of sales from June 8 to 15 to a fund benefiting Ally’s two children. Skyline Chili corporate has already contributed $25,000, and Coca-Cola Consolidated has matched that with another $25,000. A GoFundMe has also been set up by friends and family to help with funeral expenses and support for the children: https://www.gofundme.com/f/honoring-alyssa-hills-memory-and-supporting-her-kids
