A Dayton man was arrested Tuesday morning after Southern Ohio Drug Task Force agents executed a narcotics-related search warrant in Portsmouth, according to authorities.
The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force stated that officers, assisted by the Portsmouth Police Department SWAT Team, executed the search warrant around 7:03 a.m. on May 12 at an apartment on Robinson Avenue in Portsmouth.
During the search, investigators reportedly seized approximately 213 grams of suspected fentanyl and opiates, a loaded firearm, digital scales, baggies, $1,135 in cash, and other evidence allegedly connected to drug trafficking. Authorities estimated the street value of the suspected drugs at approximately $25,560.
Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Allen Deangelo Moore of Dayton, Ohio.
Moore was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Drugs and Possession of Drugs, both first-degree felonies.
According to the release, Moore was booked into the Scioto County Jail and was scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Wednesday morning.
Authorities stated the case will later be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office for presentation to a Scioto County Grand Jury for possible additional felony charges.
The investigation was conducted by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force with assistance from Portsmouth Police SWAT. The release was jointly announced by Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer and Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are merely allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
