GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (March 31, 2026) — The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Tuesday afternoon at a residence in the 13,000 block of State Route 7 South in Eureka.
Sheriff Matt Champlin identified the occupant as Taurean T. Ramsey, 48, of Columbus, Ohio. In an official statement, Champlin said the warrant was served because Ramsey has been selling drugs in the community.

“We came to visit Mr. Ramsey today due to the fact that he has been polluting our community, for profit, by selling drugs to our friends and neighbors,” Champlin stated. “Mr. Ramsey should be aware by now that we do not take kindly to people poisoning our fellow citizens with drugs, but he has not listened to our many warnings. Because of this, Mr. Ramsey is now in jail and will face charges related to his activities.”
Champlin added that while the first part of his statement may sound satirical, there is nothing funny about the business that Mr. Ramsey has been conducting. He delivered a direct message to others involved in drug trafficking: “If our message is not clear by now, pack your drugs and leave Gallia County, or we are coming for you next.”

Deputies and agents with the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force conducted the warrant. Officials seized a sizable amount of crack cocaine, cash and other materials related to narcotics trafficking.
The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office is a participating member of the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force, a multijurisdictional law enforcement partnership dedicated to serving and protecting the citizens of its member counties through collaborative investigation and enforcement efforts.
This operation is described as another example of the hard work being conducted day and night by patrol deputies, investigators, task force agents and corrections staff to safeguard Gallia County.
