Chillicothe, OH – The Veteran Inmate Coalition at Chillicothe Correctional Institution (CCI) has demonstrated remarkable generosity by donating to Dress Right Dress Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans in Ohio.
According to a post from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) on their official Facebook page, the incarcerated veterans at CCI, despite their own limited resources, chose to give back to fellow veterans in the community who are navigating challenging transitions and require assistance. The post highlights that this act of kindness is fostered and encouraged by dedicated CCI staff members, who motivate the men to create positive change beyond prison walls. ODRC expressed pride in their efforts to support those who have served the country.
Dress Right Dress Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015 and established in 2019, focuses on aiding service members and veterans facing transitional hardships after military service. The organization provides peer mentorship, community-based activities, and reentry support, including programs specifically for veterans involved in the justice system. It partners with ODRC as a recognized reentry program and offers services across Ohio, including in south-central regions like Ross County, where CCI is located in Chillicothe.
Additional details shared by Dress Right Dress Inc. indicate that the Veteran Inmate Coalition at CCI raised and donated $2,500 to the organization in February (prior to the recent post highlighting the event).
This initiative underscores the value of rehabilitation programs within Ohio’s correctional system, showing how incarcerated individuals, particularly veterans, can contribute meaningfully to community support efforts.
