COLUMBUS, Ohio — Dominion Middle School in the Clintonville area was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after school officials discovered a pistol in a student’s locker, according to Columbus City Schools officials.
The incident occurred after district safety and security specialists received a tip and searched the student’s belongings around 9:30 a.m. The school was secured under a Level II lockdown, and Columbus Division of Police responded to the scene. Authorities cleared the building by approximately 10:15 a.m., with no injuries reported and classes resuming shortly afterward.
Principal Kate Dominique informed parents in a letter that the student involved will face disciplinary consequences in line with the Columbus City Schools Student Guide to Success. Officials emphasized the role of the anonymous tip in preventing potential harm and encouraged the school community to report concerns via the 884-SAFEROH tip line, available 24/7, with the reminder: “If you see something, say something.”
