An 18-year-old Hilliard man is facing a second-degree felony assault charge after his arraignment Thursday in Franklin County Municipal Court, according to court records.
Jose Carapia is charged in case 2026 CR A 019110 with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, at the grade alleging use of a weapon or ordnance. The arraignment sheet gives no facts about the incident and identifies no other person.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Office records show Carapia was arrested November 4, 2026, and booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center at James A. Karnes (booking 20261104035), with bond not set. The court sheet lists the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office as the jurisdiction on the case.
Carapia is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. A preliminary hearing is the next step in municipal court before a felony case can be presented to a grand jury.
