Waverly’s sanitary sewer CIPP lining project is still underway. The city says some residents may smell plastic, glue, or resin while crews cure the new pipe liner.
The odor can show up even if your block is not the active work zone. It is temporary.
What the city asks you to do
• Run or pour water in drains you rarely use
• Hit basement floor drains, utility-room drains, guest baths, laundry drains, and other idle fixtures
• Recheck drains that dry out during the project
Water in the P-trap is the barrier that keeps sewer gas out of the house. A few minutes at unused fixtures cuts the chance you notice the smell.
CIPP lines the old pipe from the inside so crews do not have to dig up whole streets. Follow city notices for any water-use limits on the day crews are on your block.
