David Roosa, a lifelong resident of Pike County, Ohio, is seeking a seat on the Pike County Republican Central Committee for Waverly Ward 3 in the upcoming primary election. At 70 years old, Roosa brings decades of public service and community involvement to the race. He has lived in Pike County for all 70 of his years and has called Waverly home for more than two decades.

Roosa spent 29 years in law enforcement, including time with the Waverly Police Department and 24 years with the Pike County Sheriffs Office, where he served as Major and Deputy Evidence Technician. He trained through the Pike County Sheriffs Academy and the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. Upon retirement, the Waverly Police Department publicly recognized his many years of service and the positive impact he made locally. Earlier in his career, while serving as a patrolman with the Waverly Police Department, he was named Police Officer of the Year at the departments annual awards dinner.

In addition to his law enforcement work, Roosa has served as pastor for five churches in Pike County. He has officiated numerous local funerals and remains active in ministry. In 2017 he received a plaque from Omega CCCU recognizing his dedication to preaching the gospel. Many in the area know him for his live Facebook sermons, during which he preaches the gospel and often delivers personalized shoutouts to viewers, sometimes accompanied by a subtle wink that signals a coming message may carry extra meaning for someone watching.

Roosa has also been a familiar figure on local roads as a longtime motorcycle rider. While details of his riding habits remain the subject of lighthearted local talk, he has maintained a presence in that community for most of his life.

Those who know him often note his availability. He tends to answer phone calls promptly and seems to reach out at moments when support is needed. His campaign message emphasizes his deep roots and desire to serve Ward 3 through the central committee role.
The Pike County Republican primary is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Early in-person voting has already begun, and mail ballots are available. Roosa is one of two candidates who filed for the Ward 3 Republican Central Committee position, alongside Sherre D. Kinnison, according to the Pike County Board of Elections.

Central committee members help guide the local Republican Party, including candidate endorsements and grassroots efforts. For voters in Waverly Ward 3 interested in local party leadership, this race offers a chance to select someone with extensive experience in law enforcement, ministry, and community engagement.
Roosa’s campaign highlights a commitment to the area he has called home for his entire life. As with any local race, residents are encouraged to review the candidates and make an informed choice at the polls on May 5.
