CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A Circleville man faces charges after authorities say he entered a North Pickaway Street residence despite being formally trespassed from the property, following a minor vehicle crash at the scene.
According to a Circleville Police Department report, officers responded to North Pickaway Street around 3:53 p.m. on July 17, 2026, after being flagged down for a non-injury accident. A 2019 black Chevrolet Silverado truck and a 2011 silver Nissan Versa were found with their front ends touching. No visible damage was reported to either vehicle.
Thomas Erik Jones, 27, of W. Mound St., Circleville, was identified as the driver of the truck. Police say Jones admitted he was trespassed from the North Pickaway Street address and had entered the home after the door was open. Dispatch confirmed the formal trespass.
The homeowner told officers he was inside when he heard a noise outside, followed by Jones entering the residence and yelling. A witness statement was also obtained. Jones was placed under arrest for criminal trespass under Ohio Revised Code 2911.21(A).
Field Sobriety Tests Conducted
Officers noted signs including slurred speech and constricted pupils. Jones denied consuming alcohol or drugs and stated he was not on any impairing medication. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered, including Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand. Officers reported some performance issues but did not detect alcohol impairment. Jones was transported to the Pickaway County Jail without further incident.
Under Ohio law, criminal trespass is generally a misdemeanor of the fourth degree, though penalties can vary based on circumstances.
