A Ross County man was booked into the Ross County Jail after a Chillicothe traffic stop led officers to discover suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and nearly $2,000 in cash.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, Officer Justin Tuttle, stopped a silver Chevrolet pickup truck shortly after 1:20 a.m. on July 15 after identifying the driver as Hoyt Eugene Reynolds Sr., who was allegedly operating the vehicle while under an Ohio OVI suspension.
Police reported that Reynolds pulled into an alley behind a residence on East Water Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing, officers reportedly located a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, multiple small baggies commonly associated with narcotics packaging, two glass pipes with residue, a digital scale, and several pills. Officers also recovered approximately $1,980 in cash from Reynolds during a search incident to arrest.
According to the report, Reynolds admitted the suspected substance was methamphetamine after being advised of his Miranda rights. He allegedly told officers he was in the process of moving and that was why the items were inside the vehicle.
The suspected narcotics were submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for laboratory testing. Police noted that additional charges may be pursued pending the results of that analysis.
Reynolds was transported to the Ross County Jail and charged with Driving Under OVI Suspension and Drug Paraphernalia. Jail records show he was being held on a $1,000 bond. The drug possession investigation remains pending laboratory confirmation of the suspected substance.
