Strangulation charged as a third-degree felony brought a 28-year-old Columbus man before a Franklin County Municipal Court judge on Saturday.
Zeshan Khan is charged in case 2026 CR A 018284 with strangulation, a third-degree felony, at the grade alleging a substantial risk of serious physical harm, according to court records. Ohio law treats strangulation as a felony separate from assault because of the risk that cutting off a victim’s air or blood flow causes serious injury.
The arraignment sheet does not describe the underlying incident and does not identify any other person involved, and no further facts were available in the court record Saturday. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office records show Khan was arrested on October 23, 2026, and booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center at James A. Karnes (booking 20261023027). Bond had not been set as of his arraignment in courtroom 4D.
Khan is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Felony cases filed in municipal court are typically presented to a Franklin County grand jury, which decides whether to issue an indictment and move the case to the Court of Common Pleas.
