Scioto County Emergency Planning Committee Meets Thursday

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Scioto County’s Local Emergency Planning Committee meets at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, and the public is invited.

The committee will meet in the conference room of the Scioto County Department of Job and Family Services on Court Street in Portsmouth, according to the Scioto County Emergency Management Agency.

The committee prepares the county for hazardous-materials emergencies such as chemical spills and industrial accidents. Under state law, it maintains and reviews the county’s hazmat response plan each year, collects reports from local facilities on the chemicals they store, and runs an annual exercise to test the plan.
