CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Jack Pine Studio is marking the nation’s 250th birthday with a limited run of patriotic glass pumpkins at this week’s Circleville Pumpkin Show, with part of the money going to veterans.
The studio made just 250 of the hand-blown “America 250th Anniversary” pumpkins, in red, white and blue with a coiled glass stem, according to the Scioto Post. Prices start at $150, and buyers are limited to two.
Ten percent of sales will be donated to Ohio Veterans First.
The pumpkins are being released in batches through the week at the studio’s booth at the corner of Main and Pickaway streets downtown. Regular coupons do not apply to the special edition.
The 119th Circleville Pumpkin Show runs Wednesday through Saturday.
The studio is releasing the pumpkins in batches through the week: after Tuesday’s preview-night release, 25 more go on sale each morning at 10 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday at the booth.
The limited run had a line before the booth even opened Wednesday morning. One woman in line grumbled that she could not believe buyers were limited to two pumpkins, then decided the limit might be good after all, because it meant she would get one. Asked what the pumpkins were, she laughed and said, “The most expensive pumpkin you’ll ever buy.”
