WAVERLY, Ohio – Lake White’s annual winter drawdown begins Monday, Nov. 2, and lakefront property owners are being asked to get their boats out of the water soon.
Pike Lake State Park, which oversees the lake, said the floodgate will be lowered one foot per week until the lake reaches its winter pool level. The park office urged residents to remove boats this week or next.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources lowers many state park lakes each winter to limit ice damage to docks, seawalls and shoreline and to help control weeds by exposing the lake bottom to freezing.
Lake White sits on the southwest edge of Waverly and is a longtime draw for boaters and anglers.
Questions about the drawdown can go to the park office at 740-493-2212, option 3.
