The I-71 southbound ramp to Main Street in Columbus is closed through Monday, October 26, 2026, for interchange improvements.
The Ohio Department of Transportation District 6 listed the work in its weekly road project report for October 18 to October 24. The ramp closed at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 16, and is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 26.
ODOT posted two detours. Drivers can take I-71 southbound to I-70 eastbound to Kelton Avenue northbound to Main Street. Drivers can also take I-670 eastbound to 3rd Street to Main Street.
Main Street itself is affected too. Main Street eastbound between Washington Avenue and Lester Drive is reduced to one lane over the same stretch, from October 16 through October 26.
There is one more squeeze coming. I-71 southbound between Town Street and Main Street drops to two lanes the weekend of October 23 to October 26.
If you drive downtown this week, plan extra time and watch for signs. All work is weather permitting, per ODOT.
