Cross Country Districts Run Saturday at Rio Grande

Local cross country runners head to the University of Rio Grande on Saturday, October 24, for the district meet. The top finishers on Saturday advance to the regional meet on Saturday, October 31.

Unioto leads the local field going in. The Unioto boys won their 12th straight Scioto Valley Conference title and took the top five individual places at the league meet. Corbin Scott led the way in 16 minutes, 6.4 seconds.

The Unioto girls won their 6th straight Scioto Valley Conference title, giving the school a sweep of the team championships.

Chillicothe also brings strong teams to Rio Grande. The Chillicothe boys and girls each finished second in the Frontier Athletic Conference.

Huntington has the Scioto Valley Conference girls individual champion. Rachel Lute won that title in 21 minutes, 28.7 seconds.

Paint Valley’s girls were second in the Scioto Valley Conference, and Zane Trace’s girls were third.

Saturday is the day that decides who runs another week. Runners and teams that finish near the top at Rio Grande will be back on the course at regionals the following Saturday.
