CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A silent alarm at a North Bridge Street store late Tuesday morning unraveled what Chillicothe police describe as a rolling counterfeit operation: a car with out-of-state plates, a printer in the trunk, half-printed $100 bills, and $3,900 in fake hundreds, every one of them carrying the same serial number.

It started at Carter’s at 1251 North Bridge Street, where staff told police three females had tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill and left in a newer black Nissan sedan. Officer Monique Lee spotted a matching car on North Bridge, turned through traffic, and stopped it on State Route 35 West just past the North Bridge on-ramp.

The driver, Tyler Andujar, 27, told officers he is a rapper on his way to Brooklyn, New York, to make a rap video, and that he had met the three females on Instagram to appear in his videos. In the front seat was R’reahnna Carraway, who store staff identified as the one who passed the bill. In the back were Trinity Guy and a 17-year-old girl.

What officers found in the car

Because the car had been used in a crime, officers inventoried it and then searched it. Inside they found a card reader and counterfeit-detector pens. In the trunk: a printer, bags of clothing, and bills that appeared washed on one side, printed with the $100 design on one side and blank on the other, according to the report.

The interviews did not line up. The 17-year-old was found holding $3,400 in counterfeit $100 bills, all with the same serial number, and said the money had been handed to her and she did not know it was fake. Detectives heard conflicting accounts of who handed it to her. At the Ross County Jail, Guy admitted she had another $500 in counterfeit bills hidden in her pants, the same serial number again, the report says.

Four arrested, and a second store comes forward

All four were arrested for counterfeiting, and the three adults were also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 17-year-old was taken to the Ross County Juvenile Detention Center, and when her mother was called, the report notes, she did not appear to know her daughter was in Ohio.

The case grew Tuesday evening. Nothing Bundt Cakes, in the same North Bridge Street plaza, called police after realizing an employee had taken a counterfeit $100 earlier in the day. The store has camera footage of the people responsible, and an officer collected the bill as evidence.

Andujar, Carraway, and Guy were booked into the Ross County Jail. Chillicothe Municipal Court dates were set for the adults, and the juvenile’s case goes to Ross County Juvenile Court. Police say the investigation continues.

Charges are allegations. Every person charged is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
