Free obituaries for south-central Ohio families
When someone you love dies, the people who need to know are your neighbors: the folks at church, the crew at work, the friends who would fill the funeral home parking lot if they heard in time. This page exists for them, and for you.
Hopewell Heritage Headlines publishes free death notices for families across south-central Ohio: Chillicothe and greater Ross County, Circleville and Pickaway County, Waverly and Pike County, Portsmouth and Scioto County, and the neighboring towns we cover every day. If your family calls this part of Ohio home, your notice belongs here. It will never cost you anything.
How it works
1. You submit the form below. Give us the essentials: your loved one’s full name, age, hometown, and date of death, plus the service information: the time, the place, and the funeral home handling the arrangements. If you’d like, add a short note about them: what they did, what they loved, who they leave behind. A photo is welcome too, as long as it is yours to share.
2. We review every submission. A real person on our small team reads each notice before anything goes live. We may tidy up spelling or formatting, and we will email you if something needs clarifying. Nothing on this page ever publishes automatically.
3. We publish a short notice. Once approved, your loved one’s notice appears on our obituaries page, where it stays as part of the community record.
4. We link to the funeral home. If the funeral home has a full obituary, guest book, or service livestream online, we will link straight to it, so readers can find service details, flowers, and condolences in one click.
What to include in the short note
A few sentences are plenty. Many families mention the town they grew up in, the work they were proud of, the church or team they belonged to, and the family members who survive them. Write it the way you would tell a neighbor. There is no wrong way to do this.
About the photo
If you have a favorite photo and you have the right to share it, we would be honored to include it. Please do not send photos you found online or that belong to a professional photographer without permission.
Free for families, always
A death notice costs nothing: not the submission, not the photo, not the link to the funeral home. This is a community service, plain and simple. If a funeral home submits on a family’s behalf, that is welcome too, at no charge.
What we don’t publish
We don’t copy obituaries from funeral home websites. Your notice should be written for this page, in your own words. We don’t publish cause-of-death details unless the family asks us to. And we never sell or share the information you submit; the submitter’s email is only so we can reach you with questions about the notice.
A final word
Losing someone is hard enough without wrestling with forms and fees. Tell us about them, and we will help the community show up the way south-central Ohio always does.
