Ohioans Can File Claims in Generic-Drug Price Settlement

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson is urging residents to check whether they qualify for money from settlements with generic-drug manufacturers accused of conspiring to inflate prices.

The claims window is open now. The cases alleged that manufacturers coordinated to keep prices high on common medications. Settlements do not require a consumer to prove they were a named victim — only that they bought covered drugs during the relevant years.

People who paid cash, used insurance with high copays, or ran a small pharmacy are the most likely to have a claim. Many will not remember brand names from five or eight years ago. The claims site is built around drug lists, not memory.

Wilson’s office also announced a working group this week on how law enforcement reports sexual-assault evidence-kit data, and it reported indictments against 18 Medicaid providers accused of stealing more than $355,000. The drug-settlement window is the item that can put money back in household accounts before winter bills land.

Residents can find the claims portal through the Ohio Attorney General’s consumer site. Deadlines matter. Waiting until a neighbor mentions it is how people miss the check.
