ELKINS, W.Va. — Gabriel Ramsey brought home gold Saturday, Sept. 26, after going undefeated in the Men’s No-Gi Regular Adult Intermediate 149.9-pound-and-under division at the WVGO Gi & No-Gi Forest Festival in Elkins, West Virginia.
Ramsey opened his run with a semifinal victory over William Johnson of Parkersburg Jiu-Jitsu Academy, earning the win by submission and advancing to the championship match.
In the final, Ramsey faced Austin Morris of Mastering MMA/MMA Institute. Ramsey earned the victory by points, completing a 2-0 run and securing first place in the division.
While Ramsey’s competition profile does not list a traditional academy, he trains as part of Roll & Roam Ramseys, a family-based jiu-jitsu group. Ramsey regularly trains and rolls at home with his father, Anderson Ramsey, who also has a background in jiu-jitsu. Ramsey finished the tournament with two victories, including one submission, and a gold medal in the adult intermediate 149.9-pound-and-under division.
