A Chillicothe woman was taken into custody Monday after police discovered multiple people hiding inside a garage on South Hickory Street and confirmed she had an outstanding warrant.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of South Hickory Street around 11:48 a.m. on July 27 for a report of people trespassing inside a garage. The homeowner told officers he believed several individuals were inside after hearing noises coming from the loft area.
Officers searched the garage and located multiple people hiding inside. During the investigation, police confirmed that Danee Lynn Smith, 37, had an active failure-to-appear warrant related to criminal trespass.
Smith was arrested and transported to the Ross County Jail, where she was booked at approximately 12:13 p.m. She is being held on the warrant with a $500 cash or surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court.
The criminal trespass investigation was closed and marked resolved. The other individuals located in the garage were not identified in this report, and no additional arrests were documented.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
