The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office recently gave students in its Junior Police Academy another day of practical, hands-on law enforcement training designed to build teamwork, confidence, and decision-making skills.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, participants learned basic handcuffing techniques and subject control while taking part in physical fitness exercises focused on discipline, perseverance, and working together as a team.
The training continued with students using the Sheriff’s Office’s virtual firearms simulator. The interactive simulator placed participants in realistic scenarios that required them to make quick decisions under pressure, providing insight into the split-second judgment calls law enforcement officers face in the field.
Officials said the exercise also reinforced the importance of communication, critical thinking, and responsible decision-making—skills that extend beyond policing and into everyday life.
The Junior Police Academy is designed to give young people an inside look at the responsibilities of law enforcement while promoting leadership, accountability, and positive relationships between deputies and the community.
