Columbus emergency responders are on scene of a fatal train incident in the Northland area.
Radio traffic indicates a person was found under a train near Worthington Forest Place. Columbus Fire Engine 24 pronounced the individual at 2:34 p.m., according to scanner communications.
EMS units have confirmed a fatality at the scene. Responders are working to access the tracks and extricate the person. Units are also checking the surrounding area for any additional individuals.
Both rail lines have been shut down. Railroad officials, including CSX, have been notified. Railroad supervisors are on scene and moving along the west side of the tracks to assess the situation.
A helicopter was requested as part of the initial response. Access points, including areas near Shore Drive, are being evaluated to reach the tracks safely.
The incident remains active with multiple agencies responding.
