Chillicothe Man With Extensive Ross County Drug History Indicted on Multiple First-Degree Felony Drug Charges

A Chillicothe man with a lengthy history of felony drug convictions in Ross County has been indicted on multiple first-degree felony drug charges and is now being held in the Ross County Jail.

According to Ross County Common Pleas Court records, 34-year-old Reyes Manuel Martinez Jr. was indicted by a Ross County Grand Jury on June 26, 2026, in Case No. 26CR000272.

The indictment alleges four first-degree felony offenses:

  • Two counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs
  • Two counts of Possession of Drugs

Court records show prosecutors requested the issuance of a warrant upon indictment, and a warrant was subsequently issued and served on July 1. Martinez was booked into the Ross County Jail later that day. Jail records indicate he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for August 10, 2026, before Judge Matthew S. Schmidt.

The latest indictment comes after more than a decade of felony drug-related cases in Ross County Common Pleas Court.

Court records show Martinez was convicted in a 2010 case involving two counts of trafficking in cocaine and one count of tampering with evidence. In 2011, he was sentenced to prison after being convicted of fourth-degree felony trafficking in cocaine, fifth-degree felony trafficking in cocaine, and third-degree felony tampering with evidence.

Several years later, Martinez was again charged in Ross County. In a 2014 case, he was convicted of possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. Court records show he was sentenced in 2015 to seven months in prison, his driver’s license was suspended, and $1,050 found in his possession was ordered forfeited to the State of Ohio.

Court records further show Martinez was charged in 2017 with possession of heroin. He later entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to four years of community control, ordered to complete a CBCF program, perform community service, and comply with additional supervision requirements.

That same year, Martinez was named in another felony drug case involving possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, and tampering with evidence. According to court records, he was convicted on all three offenses and sentenced in January 2018 to concurrent prison terms, including 17 months for heroin possession.

More recently, Martinez was charged in a 2021 Ross County case involving possession of drugs and aggravated possession of drugs. Court records show he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years of community control. The sentence included placement in a CBCF program, intensive probation supervision, community service requirements, and financial penalties. Court dockets also reflect later community-control violation proceedings associated with that case.

Taken together, court records show felony drug convictions spanning more than 15 years and involving cocaine trafficking, cocaine possession, heroin possession, aggravated possession of drugs, and multiple tampering-with-evidence convictions.

Martinez is currently awaiting further proceedings on the newly filed first-degree felony drug charges.

All charges contained in the current indictment are allegations. Martinez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
