A Chillicothe woman was booked into the Ross County Jail on June 15 after being arrested on a bench warrant connected to an ongoing court case involving compulsory school attendance.
According to jail records, 41-year-old Danielle Marie Minkos was taken into custody by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and booked into the Ross County Jail at approximately 2:56 p.m. Monday. She was being held on a warrant related to a “Cause and Compel School Attendance” case and was being held on a $1,500 cash or surety bond.
Court records show the warrant stems from a Ross County Juvenile Court case filed in November 2024. The case remained active throughout 2025 and 2026, with multiple hearings scheduled before Judge J. Jeffrey Benson.
Records indicate Minkos was found in contempt of court in September 2025 and sentenced to 30 days in jail. The court later suspended 28 days of that sentence on conditions that included ensuring her daughter attended school as required by Ohio law and paying court costs.
The docket further shows a trial was scheduled for May 20, 2026. However, on May 26, 2026, the court noted that Minkos had been served but failed to appear, resulting in a bench warrant being issued and bond being set at $1,500.
The warrant remained active until June 15, when authorities took her into custody.
Court records also show Minkos previously faced a separate school attendance case filed in 2021. In that matter, a bench warrant was issued after she failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. After the warrant was served, she later entered a guilty plea and was ordered to pay a $100 fine, which was suspended if court costs were paid.
The 2021 case was subsequently closed.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
