South central Ohio residents who worked at Krispy Kreme or had personal information exposed in the company’s 2024 data breach may still qualify for compensation from a class action settlement.
Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation reached a $1,616,760 settlement to resolve claims related to a data incident discovered on November 29, 2024. The breach reportedly involved unauthorized access to sensitive private information of current and former employees, including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial account details.
The company has not admitted wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement. A federal court granted preliminary approval on March 5, 2026. A final approval hearing is scheduled for July 6, 2026.
Who Qualifies and What Benefits Are Available?
Eligible class members are individuals who received notice that their information may have been impacted. Benefits include:
• Cash payments: Up to $3,500 per person for documented out-of-pocket losses tied to fraud or identity theft resulting from the breach. Supporting documentation, such as receipts or records, is required.
• Alternative cash payment: An estimated $75 for those without documentation.
• Credit monitoring: One year of one-bureau credit monitoring and $1,000,000 in identity theft insurance, available without filing a claim.
Payout amounts for the cash options may adjust based on the number of valid claims filed.
