CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A traffic stop on East Main Street early March 25, 2026, led to a drug arrest and the seizure of a large amount of cash, according to the Chillicothe Police Department.
Officers conducted the stop near Pilot (1111 E. Main Street) after observing a vehicle commit a marked lanes violation. The driver, identified as Tyrone Bailey Jr., provided a New Jersey driver’s license and told officers he had come from a residence.
During the stop, a K-9 unit was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, prompting a search.
Drugs, Cash, and Contraband Located
Officers reported locating:
A large amount of cash Marijuana Multiple prescription pills, including suspected Schedule I and II substances A vacuum sealer, digital scale, and packaging materials Ammunition Multiple cell phones
Investigators also discovered:
Pills identified as amphetamine/dextroamphetamine (Adderall) Oxycodone/acetaminophen Alprazolam (Xanax) Methylphenidate (Ritalin)
Many of the pills were reportedly crushed or altered, and some were not stored in original prescription containers.
Arrest and Charges
Bailey was arrested and charged with:
Possession of Drugs (F5)
He was transported to the Ross County Jail and held pending a court appearance.
A check of Bailey’s criminal history showed a prior felony robbery adjudication and a previous drug possession conviction, making him prohibited from possessing firearms.
Cash Seizure
Officers seized a total of $13,887 in cash, which was separated into multiple bundles found throughout the vehicle and belongings. Property seizure notices were issued for the funds.
Additional Investigation
The vehicle, determined to be a rental, was towed for further processing. Detectives later reviewed surveillance footage from Sherman Park showing the occupants entering and exiting a residence prior to the stop.
Police noted that multiple cell phones recovered from the vehicle were locked and could not be immediately accessed.
The investigation remains ongoing.
