Chillicothe Correctional Institution Opens Doors to Ohio University Criminal Justice Students

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – In a recent educational outreach effort, the Chillicothe Correctional Institution (CCI) hosted a group of criminal justice students from Ohio University. The visit focused on discussions about the vital roles of corrections and reentry programs in the community.

According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, the event provided an opportunity to engage with future leaders in the field. “Chillicothe Correctional Institution recently welcomed some of Ohio University’s criminal justice students! We’re so grateful for the opportunity to talk about the importance of corrections and reentry with the next generation of leaders. Thanks for visiting!” the department shared on social media.

Located in Ross County, CCI offers various reentry and educational programs, including the Reentry Academy, to support incarcerated individuals in their transition back to society. This aligns with Ohio University’s Bachelor of Criminal Justice program at its Chillicothe campus, which prepares students for careers in corrections, law enforcement, and related areas through a multidisciplinary curriculum.

Such visits highlight the collaborative efforts between local educational institutions and correctional facilities in south central Ohio, fostering informed perspectives on criminal justice issues.
