WAVERLY, Ohio – Eric Ballein, a School Resource Officer with the Waverly Police Department who serves Waverly City Schools, has been appointed as the Southeast District Representative on the Board of Directors for the Ohio School Resource Officers Association (OSROA).
Ballein currently works in the hallways of Waverly City Schools and teaches the D.A.R.E. curriculum to students. In his new statewide role, he plans to share the successes of the local D.A.R.E. program. Those successes include student essay contests and community outreach efforts. He will use the program as a model to support other school districts throughout Southeast Ohio.

Ballein said he will continue his daily duties with Waverly students and staff. He added that the position will let him represent the Waverly Police Department and local schools at the state level.
He is scheduled to be sworn in during the OSROA/DARE Conference in July.
The appointment underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen school safety and positive youth programs in south central Ohio communities. OSROA works to promote training and communication among school resource officers, educators, and school safety personnel across the state.
