BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — A traffic stop conducted by a Ross County deputy resulted in multiple citations and summonses after open containers of alcohol were discovered inside a vehicle along U.S. Route 50.
According to the report, Deputy Jacob Johansen initiated a traffic stop on March 20, 2026, near mile marker 6 after observing a maroon Ford Focus with a loud and unusual exhaust noise. A registration check returned to a different vehicle, prompting further investigation.
The driver was identified as Walker Lee Bruce Riffle. Deputies also identified passengers as Lowell Riffle, Arron Tumbleson, and Michelle Hardesty. During the stop, it was determined that the license plate on the vehicle belonged to one of the passengers, and the vehicle itself was reportedly in another occupant’s name.
A records check revealed that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license.
While speaking with occupants, a deputy observed multiple open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle. A subsequent search confirmed several cans of beer, including one located near the driver’s seat and others distributed throughout the vehicle within reach of occupants.
According to the report:
The driver denied the beer was his but admitted to drinking earlier in the day. One passenger acknowledged ownership of the open container near the floor. Another passenger claimed ownership of additional cans found in the rear of the vehicle. One occupant reportedly did not partake.
As a result of the investigation:
The driver was cited for operating a vehicle without a valid license, invalid plates, and vehicle equipment violations. Walker Riffle, Lowell Riffle, and Arron Tumbleson were issued summonses for open container violations.
The vehicle was ultimately towed from the scene.
All individuals are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law
