The Hopewell Heritage Headlines team was heartbroken to learn of the passing of Kasey Wen Elam, a dedicated law enforcement officer and family man from our south central Ohio community.
Kasey Wen Elam, 34, of Richmond Dale, passed away on March 11, 2026, at his home. Born on June 3, 1991, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of Shawn Elam and Patricia Kneisley.
A 2009 graduate of Zane Trace High School, Kasey pursued a career in public service after attending the Ohio Police Training Academy in 2012, earning his certification as a Peace Officer. He served various communities in law enforcement, including Chillicothe, Wellston, Waverly, and most recently Piketon. He was also proud to serve with Scioto Township Fire and EMS. Known for his deep commitment to the communities he protected, Kasey was always active as an officer and truly enjoyed engaging with residents, building trust and connections through his approachable and dedicated approach to policing.
Kasey cherished time with his family, especially his wife, Savannah (Ford) Elam, and their two children, Kimber and Maverick. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and mushroom hunting, as well as music, video games, and supporting the Save a Warrior project. He was a member of the Richmond Dale Church of Christ.
He is survived by his parents, wife, children, step-parents, siblings, step-siblings, grandmothers, and many close friends, extended family members, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Elam and Harold Kneisley, and his Aunt Nay.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
