Can You Help Find Savannah Guthrie’s Mom?
A Mom Vanishes From Her Tucson Home
The mom of a famous TV anchor is missing, and her family is begging for your help. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen in her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31. When she wasn’t found the next day, February 1, police started looking for her. They now think someone took her against her will.
What Do We Know About That Night?
The FBI released a video showing a masked man outside Nancy’s front door on the night she disappeared. This is the biggest clue investigators have. They believe she was either kidnapped or taken by someone she might have known.
The Family’s Heartfelt Plea: “Someone Knows Something”
Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie—who co-hosts the “Today Show”—shared a new message from her family on Instagram. They’re asking everyone in Tucson and southern Arizona to search their memories.
“Someone knows something,” the statement says. “It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant.”
They specifically want people to think back on two time periods:
- January 31 to February 1: The night Nancy went missing and the next day.
- The evening of January 11: Another time they think might hold clues.
They ask you to check anything that could help—phone texts, journal entries, security camera footage, or even a strange conversation you forgot about. “No detail is too small,” they said.
A Big Reward and a Sad Possibility
The family is offering a $1 million reward for any information that leads to finding Nancy. In their statement, they also faced a painful truth: they acknowledged that Nancy may no longer be alive. “We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder,” they wrote.
Who Is Savannah Guthrie and Why Is This So Public?
Savannah Guthrie has been a anchor on NBC’s “Today Show” since 2012. She’s a familiar face to millions. After her mom disappeared, she took time off from the show. She briefly returned to the studio on March 5 but is still focused 100% on finding her mother. Another “Today” host, Hoda Kotb, has been filling in for her.
Where Did This Happen?
Tucson is a big city in southern Arizona, about 100 miles south of Phoenix and 70 miles north of the Mexican border. Nancy lived in the Catalina Foothills, a nice, quiet neighborhood known for hiking trails. It’s the kind of place where people might know their neighbors.
How You Can Help
If you live in or near Tucson, or if you were there in late January, the family wants you to:
- Look back: Think about anything unusual you saw or heard around January 11 or January 31–February 1.
- Check your records: Go through old texts, social media posts, photos, or home security videos.
- Speak up: Even if you think your information is small, tell the police. You could be the key to solving this.
