Portsmouth Police Department Honors Officers, Staff at Annual Awards Banquet

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The Portsmouth Police Department recognized the service and dedication of its officers and staff during its annual awards banquet held March 7, 2024.

A number of awards were presented to highlight exceptional performance, bravery, and commitment to the community.

Officer of the Year was awarded to Officer Steve Brewer, recognizing his outstanding work and contributions over the past year.

Civilian of the Year went to Dispatcher Cindy Litteral for her critical role in supporting law enforcement operations.

The department’s Medal of Valor was presented to Sgt. Troy Eddleman, Officer Kyle Galloway, and Officer Ethan Carmichael for acts of bravery in the line of duty.

Lt. Nathan Williams received the Meritorious Conduct Citation, and the Meritorious Unit Citation was awarded to the Portsmouth Police Department SWAT team.

The Outstanding Community Service Citation was awarded to Officer Mike Queen, Lt. Nathan Williams, Officer Shane Spriggs, Officer Kevin Meadows, and Officer Zach Delotell for their continued efforts in serving the community beyond standard duties.

Detective Nick Shepherd received the Chief’s Blue Shield Award, recognizing exceptional service and professionalism.

Multiple officers were also recognized for Expert Firearms proficiency, including Sgt. Andy Dawes, Lt. Josh Justice, Officer Tiffany Hedrick, Lt. Nathan Williams, Sgt. Troy Eddleman, Sgt. Jake Newman, Sgt. Corey Fischer, Officer James Bell, Sgt. Aaron Broughton, Detective Nick Shepherd, Officer Clayton Nickell, Officer Jesse Kontras, Officer Tyler Spriggs, Officer Kaleb Kidd, Officer Sam Mays, Officer Nick Adkins, Officer Chad Krekeler, and Officer Kevin Meadows.

Additionally, several members were honored for Perfect Attendance, including Chief Debby Brewer, Detective Lee Bower, Sgt. Joe Shupert, Officer Mikle Queen, Officer Tim Stewart, Detective Kevin Metzler, and Sgt. Aaron Broughton.

In a statement, the department expressed appreciation for the dedication of its personnel, noting that these recipients represent just a portion of the many individuals working daily to serve and protect the Portsmouth community.
